After several communications with Brandt Timm and Phil Hunt, it looks like the Phil Hunt 7.325 tomato was grown from a Delicious variety seed. This is the same variety Gordon Graham's World Record tomato was grown from. The Nick Harp tomato was grown from the Big Zac line also grown along the way by amoung others, Brandt Timm. The Phil Hunt tomato came from seed essentially cultivated by Timm into what might be considered a Brandt Timm strain of Delicious. So when you plant your seeds this year please be aware that these seeds from the Big Zac line and the Brandt Timm strain of Delicious are very much different. They will have different characteristics and the plants will not look or act alike as to their weather tolerance etc. Delicious is an heirloom variety while Big Zac was always a hybrid, the exact parents of which are unknown except to Minnie Zaccaria who made the cross. Brandt and Minnie did us all a service as we look for the really big tomato. Also when you further circulate these seeds you should be certain to identify their background or we will end up with mass confusion as to the heritage of the seeds we are growing.

JUST AS EASY TO SAY GROW 3.9 CATAPANO, its produce tons so its the best producer ever nuff said. grow em big and put them on the scale,est are just that est, dont wait on a giant because someone says they weighed this or that if its not cert. its just wishing, this has nothing to do with the tomatoes above just a beef i have, but i do think 3.9 catapano is the best seed out there. TT

Cody I'm growing the 7.18 and 7.33 and also the 5.58 and 5.0. I may just try to make crosses with each and see how they work out.

well if the 7.33 is a delicious variety im gonna cross it with a big zac, and if were lucky maybe marv will weigh a tomato in our contest this year instead of just the gpc weighoffs !!!!! pizza

Brant has been growing the Delicious strain for years, which was no secret. A few years ago I gave a few of his seeds to a fellow gardener who has never grown giant anything. He grew a 3.18 lber on the first shot. The interesting thing was he had 8 tomatoes on that plant and several others were over 2 lbs.
On the other hand, I wasn't able to produce anything over a pound on store bought Delicious seeds.

7.33 Hunt, 5.64 Timm, 5.0 Timm, and the 3.62 Lovelace. :)
