Any ideas on why the newer leaves on my tomato plants would be curling upward? I have planted tomatos many times and have not had this issue as far as I can remember. It also does not appear to be causing a problem. The plants have a nice green color and are growing.

Genetics can do this.. The Giant Veggie seed echange had a varity called Sky Rocket that curled in the heat.
Does the Curl stay or is it heat dependent? May be a nutrient defeciency.

15. Q. What causes tomato leaves to curl?

A. The exact cause of tomato leaf roll is not fully known. Tomato leaf roll appears about the time of fruit setting. The leaflets of the older leaves on the lower half of the tomato plant roll upward. This gives the leaflets a cupped appearance with sometimes even the margins touching or overlapping. The overall growth of the plant does not seem to be greatly affected and yields are normal. This condition appears to be most common on staked and pruned plants. It occurs when excessive rainfall or overwatering keeps the soil too wet for too long. It is also related to intensive sunlight which causes carbohydrates to accumulate in the leaves. Some varieties of tomatoes are characteristically curled.

It doesn't appear to be heat dependant. The curl is only evident in the newer leaves. The larger older ones seem to be fine.

I was thinking of a nutrient deficiency, as I am only using this area for the first time. If I could identify the deficiency, I could try and remedy it for next year.

Thanks for the input.

My maters are doing this as well but only the maters related to the big zac line. My pink brandywines are not doing this.
We have had tons of rain so I'm thinking my maters are getting pissed at the always wet soil.

Mine seemed to have cleared up a bit. Not nearly as many leaves are exhibiting this anylonger. Just a few leaves.

We had lots of rain in April and May, but June has been really dry. The top few inches of soil are dried out. I have been watering all of my gardens.

As long as they keep growing, I think they will get out of this.
