Three weeks ago I sprayed with Roundup my gravel driveway for weeds. I sprayed ovr 100 feet away from the vegetable garden in 90+ °F. Within a week I notice my tomatoes were getting fernlike. I sent samples to the State Lab for diagnois, and they reported back no major diseases but felt it was herbicide damage-2,4 D. He thought the Roundup vaporized in 90 degree weather and drifted down to my plants. He thinks they will outgrow the damage. He said that Roundup can vaporize and travel up to 400 ft. Roundup does not contain 2,4-D. The main ingredient is glyphosate. Anything that is at least a few feet from the driveway should be fine.

I may have that wrong about 2,4 D as the lab did not say that specifically just that they thought it was herbicide damage. That part was my mistake but I believe it did vaporize in the actual 93° heat as the NM State lab thought after they tested. The plants are now outgrowing the fernlike leaves.

I sprayed the lawn around my pumpkin with glyphosate just before the vines started growing into it, only a couple of feet away in some spots. No ill effects, and that was a couple of weeks ago.
