In case all of you giant tomato growers have not yet sensed it, people are not nearly as interested in a giant tomato as they are a giant pumpkin. Tomatoes take a back seat to pumpkins. If you were standing there with a 10 pound tomato and next to you was a guy with a 1500 pound pumpkin, who do you think would be getting 99% of the attention as well as 99% of the questions? What would people be taking pictures of? When I show someone my big tomato they almost always ask enthusiastically, "You are the one who grows big pumpkins, right? How are they doing?" So, the point is, when you are showing off your big tomato, do not stand next to a big pumpkin. Sad but true. LOL. Marv

I don't even show my tomatoes anymore. When I did show them, there was always some old timer that would pipe up and say "yeah, I grew some bigger than that back in the day" or "so and so grew three tomatoes that wouldn't fit into a cola crate in 1972". Then comes the advice on how to grow one bigger than the 3.5 pounder that I'm holding! That's ok old timer, I have a book.....
