It looks like there's a few things I need to clear up, so in no particular order:

I was looking for a simpler way to do things than in year past regarding the early entries because:

1. Some sites were not entering early tomatoes into their site results.
2. It would make the process a little more public to have them listed as they come in.
3. I would not have to deal with entries mailed in - growers could pre-register online, and email me the picture and document scan if they wanted to. It would save me some typing that way.

So, Ken set me up with a "site" to enter them into the database. In so far as I live in NY, that's where the NY comes in for the site "state". "City" is listed as Global, and as you can see from the results so far, we've had results from all over.

When we put the "Early Site" online, we hadn't really considered all the interesting scenarios that have popped up.

There are a few more entries that I need to add in yet (been busy with other weighoff stuff lately), and will get them in asap.

All input and recommendations are welcomed on how to make this a better idea for next year.

also love the early entry, but just trying to find out if we could have a list of gpc sites that accecpt early entries, so we know if we could enter it at that weigh off,
i tried to find this out a month ago, but no reply after several e-mails to several different people, then after a certain weigh off,last week,i found out someone had entered an early tomato, and i was to late to enter mine.. oh well,, there is always next year, scott :-}

I think the early site was a great idea too Andy. We just need to address the designated site aspect.

Andy, great work...when you get awl the details worked out...is it a possibility to add Lopes to the game? w/ early weights? Peace, Wayne

I like the early tomato entries,
I like to grow tomatoes .
the way I grow them they're usualy in their prime mid summer,
This way A nice one can get an official weight in the summer.
I like the way we decided that a tomato must be weighed at our weigh-in to be eligible for the modest prize we offer.
