Was thinking about doing some grafting next year with Big Zac and Deliceous. Grafting them to a very aggressive rootstock. Not only accomplishing a disease resistant plant but a very aggressive rootball. Have you ever done any tomato grafting and how did it work out?

I grafted MegaMarv onto a Maxifort Root stock and allowed the plant to just grow with no pruning except for several suckers that grew out of the cage. The plant was huge and has loads of tomatoes on it but no really big ones. Hard to say what it would have done if it was given more care or grown in one of the better spots in the garden.

I have successfully grafted approx 10 practice pants last season.
This next season I'll be grafting some of my Big Zac and Mega Marv plants to Maxifort rootstock which has excellent root disease resistance along with extremely aggressive root growth.
The downside is the cost of Maxifort rootstock. It's approx 25.00 for 50 seeds so you better have practiced your grafting on some common tomato plants. LOL!

I am growing a Maxifort plant. There are lots of small green tomatoes on it. I may use some of the F2 seeds to see how they do. I have often grown Big Zac F2 with great results. Maybe Maxifort F2 will do as well??

I tried my hand at grafting this year. All of my attempts failed. I learned a lot though. I will try again next year. I used the Supernatural Rootstock this year.
