Missouri has it's own set of problems growing Giant Vegetables and in my seven years as a grower the rain or lack of rain has given me fits. As a grower I have had moderate success and have placed both 1st and second in largest pumpkin, 1st and 2nd in largest squash, 1st and 2nd in largest musk melon for 2013. However our friend from Mississippi blew me away on largest Tomato. Please help me compete in this area by sharing with me your Giant Tomato seeds. I thank you for your help and would be happy to share seeds from my largest musk melon with the 46 Westfall genetics.

I grew 17 muskmelon in 2013 all from the 46.6 Westfall. The genetics are in the seeds I believe no matter how large or small the 17 fruit. In other words, I won with a 27.5 lb fruit and had three in their 30's crash the day before the weigh-off and I grew one which hit 40 lbs before crashing after the weigh-off. Since all plants were sister plants and all were from the 46.6 Westfall then all carry the same genetics and a seed from a 21.5 Wellington could grow a cantaloupe just as big or bigger than one from a 39.8 Wellington. I open this up for discussion and want to learn if I am correct. Please respond.

The genetics of all the seeds should be the same though there is a very slight chance of mutation. This is why, even though people are growing a single variety of whatever, including tomatoes, they save seeds from their biggest fruits.
