I guess these are the same as the burpee steakhouse tomatoes.
Anybody have any luck with them?

England, essex

there are a few people growing this year in the uk, not sure it has the potential to break any records,?
I think there is a comp to see who can grow the biggest, with a cash prize at stake, who knows what will turn up?

It looks like the reporter Thomas Burroughs who penned this piece doesn't know about your accomplishment Dan.

It sounds like his ability to thoroughly research prior to writing something is less than stellar.

As far as the tomato Giantomo is concerned, I've heard about this one late last year. The ability to grow a world record will always be in the tomato strains ability to create megablooms.

Addendum; From the articl ""They were launched in the US last year by seed company Burpee and sold under the name SteakHouse.""

There's your answer. Last season quite a few growers grew this with rather disappointing results.

Im going to try 2 steakhouse just so i can say that i gave them a try ? I have two seedlings with two true leaves now and the leaves look a little fuller at this stage, but that doesn't mean anything yet ! Pumpkingoober grew two indoors this winter and he got some prety nice mega blooms for growing indoors. Im not expecting alot from them but some big eating tomatoes, but i guess i will find out this summer how they compair to dans 8.41 and bill foss 7.10

Yes growing them for size is first thing for contests. For those that have grown them, what do they taste like?

Yeah Dan, but as you know it only takes one really good mega bloom to create a monster. :O)

Dan, and others certainly have grounds to disagree with the published & widely distributed claim:

"Meet the biggest tomato ever bred!"
