I did cross a 5.51 mega marv with a 8.41 MacCoy big zac last November,i never weighed it but i think it was just under 2 pounds being that i made the cross so late. i planted two seeds recently and they came up with no problems.so if any one is interested send me an email at ckon56@sbcglobal.net

i also have some slankard seeds from my 3 pound slankard if anyone is interested.

I hope to have a few more crosses by mid april,my tomato project got off to a late start.

and still trying to get a cross on my domingo and slankard plants.

Chris,

Hello. Did you emasculate the flower (take off the Anther cone) before using the pollen from the crossing plant? Otherwise it might have selfed as well.

So.. How does that work anyway?... A BZxdomingo... What do you hope to happen with the seeds?...a blend of growth characteristics?...that would be killer...what do hope doesn't happen?

well you never know ? you hope for the best traits from each tomato and you could make this cross 5 times. four times could be duds and one could be the next super tomato !!! you never know.i think the worse case senario is if the cross wasn't good that it would hold the traits of the female tomato.

lol...(o; timming is very important ! if you let the flower open up to much, their is a chance of self pollination taking place before you make your cross. you have to cut off the anther cone before the pollen begins to come loose.sometimes its hard to get both flowers at the right stage at the right time.on the other hand the donor flower has to be open long enough to release its pollen and not to old at the same time.

What the seed will actually produce is a crap shoot but it could produce a really big tomato. You hope that that is the way it turns out but it is not a proven seed for sure. just a new hybrid with promise. Have to grow to see. I plan on giving it a shot.

if they did cross you should see a difference in the veg growth I would assume... They look like totally different plants side by side...is that right?..is there a crap shoot between each seed?

good question ? i haven't seen the Domingo before so im not sure what to look for ? i think that the first round of plantings may have some differences between them but once it is selfed a few times the new traits would settle in.
