Hi All
I have posted a new photo of my 7.05# Pork Chop seedling. I received this beauty in the exotic seed exchange. I am really excited to try my hand at growing a record. We'll see. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I amended my soil, planted deep and staked the plant. All seems well so far. I have been pruning the suckers out and removing bottom branches.
thanks

I let The mother plant fork at knee high... Only grew the two vines...wAit for a good blossom.. Don't pick one like Qtip did.. It'll rot in the middle...

This year I noticed the biggest blooms seem to be in the first few groups of flowers from the bottom. I had been pruning the suckers diligently in the past. This year I let some of the suckers go a bit giving me more options on each plant. On a lot of my plants the suckers are putting out big blooms on their first flowers just like on the main vine. When I see those I have been trimming the whole plant back to focus on that sucker with the megabloom. On one of my 7.05's I am growing the biggest flower I have ever seen. It's on a sucker with its first flowers. I trimmed and stopped all active growth back so the plant will focus on this megabloom. Mine is navel high. Good luck. Like Porkchop said, wait, be patient. The 7.05 has some good genetics in there and will throw down a monster. They are in there.

last year i grew mine like Garden Rebel and ended up with to much plant ? but i do agree that the first set of flowers on the main stem and branches, suckers are usually the biggest flower sets but this year i am committed to doing it the Dan MacCoy way prune all branches and suckers off try to get the first megabloom to take and then top it as soon as i call it a keeper !!! that is hard for me to do being that i never trim off anything on my eater tomato plants ! those grow in cages 8 feet tall and have 30-50 tomatoes per plant !!!

Haha you hurt my feeling :) ....biddy I have over 20 plants going so I can take some chances on some questionable "not so mega" blooms but it's going to be the first 6lb Domingo ;) if I had one plant i probably wouldnt have kept the one I'm growing - good luck - Maccoy will tell you set your first decent mega bloom on your first truss and then top the plant once your sure it took - porkchop likes to grow several on a plant up to nipple high - just trying to tell you there is more than one way to skin a cat

Okay, my 7.05 Porkchop is growing super slow. I need a super charge!! Please advise because my Wellington and Reingards are more than 3 times the Porkchop and they have the same feeding schedule!

My cherry tomato plants are growing 3x faster than the Porkchops. What's up with that? I would think just be patient. Anybody up for growing giant cherry tomatoes next year?

Me!!! I love when mine cross pollinate with my beefsteaks - they taste soooooo good!

All plants are on hills which easily dry out. My Wellingtons and Reingards are at least 3 times the size and have fruits, so I am not sure the issue. Lately, there has been a heat wave and a dry period, so I have been hauling lots of water to out community garden.
