For next summer, i have been working on having the strongest seed lineup ever of large tomatoes grown. Right now I have 9 of the top 10 listed on tomato.giantstogrow.com. The one that I am missing is the 7.27. Does anyone have a lead on this seed?

If I remember right it didn't have very many seeds, might be hard to find.

Look at the 2015 diaries and search for "juerg" so you might be able to contact him via email. But I don`t think that there are any seeds left.

Bnot don't waste your time. These are not pumpkins. Any of MacCoy's or Boudoux's seeds or their progeny all should produce megablossums. Then it is just a numbers game- will you get a big bloom and then can you grow it.

Are you getting nervous yet Patrick. Right now, I have 100's of seeds that will produce mega's. As I start growing them out, i am trying to carry forward not only the seeds that produce mega's but the ones that produce a 4-5 fused blossom connected to a ribbon vine. I will agree that MacCoy's or Boudyo's seeds will produce megablossoms, but since I am in it for long term, I want as many different genetic lines of large tomatoes as I can get. Plus it has been fun collecting this lineup.I am really curious what the 7.18 Harp will do grown 8 years later with current techniques.

Actually bnot not too worried- you have to break 4 lb first but you show great interest and ambition. I was just trying to make the point that after you get a good seed like MacCoy's or Bouydo's, then you have to concentrate on soil, ferts, support, pruning and weather. I doubt you will find a super seed.

Once a tomato seed is grown out to F5, and certainly to F7, it is stabilized and could be considered a newly stabilized open pollinated seed. Most of the Big Zac progeny, including MacCoy's world record and the Boudyo seeds coming from his 8.04 etc etc are now stabilized and as Patrick says size will depend on soil, ferts, pruning and weather and,of course, luck. Not to forget disease management. So, if you have seed from the Boudyo 5.08 (BZ) line, you are good to go. Each year save the seeds of your biggest tomato and you will be in pretty good shape. There could be a mutation somewhere along the line and so if you get a shot at seeds from the next really huge tomato, it would be worth it to try for a few of those seeds.
