This guess the weigh stuff is kinda fun! Got to give credit where credit is due with Chris Konieczny and his MegaMutt crosses. I would of just been growing some boring Big Zacs otherwise. Mutts make the best pets anyway. This includes both the "D" and "Z" crosses. The closest 3 to MMD wins seeds from both. The closest to MMZ wins seeds from both. Three or five seeds. Depends on seed count. I have opened tomato's and have been hard pressed for seeds in the past. The latest photo's have been taken and up soon. I will pick the "D" on Tuesday as it is showing red. The Z may be a week later.
Remember, 24" is approx. 5 lbs. These are not deep tomatoes but saucer shaped so...use your best geometry. Good luck!

Pictures will be up soon on the MegaMutt D. I call it the Domingo complex, but either way it weighed only 4.41 with its 25" circumference. Top 3 were BNOT AT 4.69, COJOE AT 4.70 (GOOD "2ND" GUESS), BILLF AND STEVEO12473 TIED AT 4.83.
I have plenty of seeds and for good measure will include BISCUITRIDGE AT 4.87 AND last of all but not least, PIZZAPETE AT 4.89.

MegaMutt Z is currently at 24.5". Grew 1.5" in the last 6 days. Not as lumpy so maybe heavier? May pick Saturday as I see a hint of blushing.

MegaMutt Z weighed 4.45 lbs. The diameter was 25". A shallow tomato so can't always rely on diameter. Even the calculated estimate was "weigh-off". 25.0" x 21.5" x 18.5" x .00055 = 5.47 lbs. The 18.5" was across the narrow part between the lobes. Pictures up soon. Great plant, leaves and flowers. The few flowers were mostly megablooms for both MMD and MMZ. Never had I had to pick off so many for the one I wanted to grow.

Congrats Rick. Both your megamutts had low multipliers. .000447 on the Megamutt Z. Did that one show Domingo characteristics also? .00044 was the number that Materdoc was getting on the domingoes earlier. Unless I missed something the leaderboard for the Megamutt competition is now 4.45,4.41,3.88. Mine will have to stay green for quite a few more days now to catch up.

There is an advantage to the wide saucer shape tomato. They might go a bit lighter in weight for their cc, but there is a place they would win. My state fair awards tomatoes on the basis of their circumference. I am guessing that this is not the only fair that does this. Something for me to think about for next summer.

Yes, the multipliers. There should be list of variety multipliers. It's starting to make sense. The MMZ had less Domingo than the MMD. Either way the plants and blossoms were the same. Good luck with yours!

MMD and MMZ should have equal chance of Big Zac -Domingo characteristics. They should have more MegaMarv than any other gene. I still have three MM's growing. I have a MMD that looks Big Zac. Also have a MMZ that has the serated Domingo shape. Finally have another MMD that doesn't know what it is...has a bit of everything. These crosses are fun to grow out. I have already picked one of my MM plants to cross with a Delicious over the winter. Four varieties in one...should be interesting.

Regarding the multipliers, there is going to be some variation between fruits even within 1 variety.
If we tabulate results from many Giants we should be able to come up with a standard deviation.
We also need to standardize how we measure them.
The horizontal circumference and the longest axis measurements are straightforward.
The short axis measurement should be through the narrowest point between lobes to differentiate the fruits with a narrow segment from those that don't have that.
I have taken these measurements on all but 2 or 3 fruits last year and this year after I picked them.
I use the density to rationalize the weight.
I have not tried to make these measurements while the fruit is still on the plant as I find it hard enough to just get the horizontal circumference.
I have to admit that if I had a fruit that looked like it could be a pb or new State record that it would be tempting to try to measure.
But I would probably use both .00044 and .00055 to get an idea of the range of possible weights.
