as per my other post on the 10 pound challenge, I want to make next year more interesting for all growers
I want to run the 5 hidden weights, it could be as little as 1/2 pound and up to win one of these.

Looking for ideas to add a few more opportunities to tomato growers
So if you think of something let me know.

A suggestion I was given was to have a guaranteed prize for the biggest grown on a year to year basis. This is a possibility also but would need to have the winner do some sort of article for other growers to gain from and possibly sharing seeds

when the 10 pound goes down, we will carry on and start a NEW lofty goal to chase.

Hidden weights are a great idea! How and when are these hidden weights chosen? At the end of the season pick 5 of all registered GPC tomato weights at random? Or would you pick weights ahead of time and the 5 closest?

How about something for a first time reaching a
7 lb club
8 lb club
9 lb club

But only the first time.

I think I would draw the weights after. If I draw before then you could pick early and take the fun out of it I am thinking of maybe going to 1 hidden weight in each pound class ie: one would be anything up to 1 pound, then anything between 1 and 2 pounds etc

Wix we are looking at that like the suggestion

I never really thought anyone would grow a 9 pound tomato. But with the way pumpkins have gotten to the weights we are now seeing I do believe there will be a ten pound tomato. It is very generous of Iceman to support the tomato growers the way he has and is. I think it is not a bad idea to have a 7, 8 and 9 pound tomato club with those attaining that mark receiving some sort of a plaque suitable for hanging on the wall. To most of the growers I feel a nice plaque to remind them of their accomplishment would mean more than a one time only steak dinner paid for by the prize money. I was number one in the GPC in 2011 and right now I am looking at my plaque with my picture on the front holding the winning tomato that year. It was a Delicious grown from seed I had received from the Hunts who were gracious enough to send me a few seeds from their willing tomato.

I’m all for both ideas.
I think a plaque for the 7,8,9 lb club would make a nice keepsake of achievement.
Can I get a plaque for the 2 lb club ?
I’ve been a charter member for a few years now !

Hidden weight would be fun, and I think that a weigh club would be great! It's always nice to have something to strive for! Can I glue 3 or 4 of mine together? I might be able to hit 7 lbs that way!
