This year is my first attempt at the big tomatoes. I have big zacs. Do I need to prune to a single vine? Thanks all

I vote no...but why not try one limited to a single vine...

You can go wrong with a single vine. But the last couple of years, my heaviest have come from the first or second suckers, or "branches" that come out from the lower part of the plant. I train 2-3 of them to grow right up with the main. They will grow as thick as the main. A less aggressive one I will cut off. Either way they produce large flowers just like the main stem. You have more options this way. One to three tomato's might take. The promising tomato I let grow. The others I cut off. I will cut the top off the other tops including the main. Good luck. You can't beat experience. Eventually you'll find what works best for you.
