That looks like a good one. How big are your hands :). It would be a difficult on that one to get an accurate 3 way measurment. Too much air gap at the top of the V. Maybe could take two 3 way measurements and add them together. How does Andy measure?

Check, check, check, check. Correct on all counts. Who started all these Domingo’s in our gardens? Besides that Domingo guy?

hmmmm....who grew the seed that grew the 5.75. And the 5.75 is not even an gpc official weight. Too bad domingoes don't grow big..at least not in my garden so far. Keep it going you two...hope for the best for both of you.

Why it was ol’ Vincenzo Domingo himself...he gave seeds to Sam lovelace...I believe he grew a 2.43...he shared seeds with Mr.. Wahl.who grew the 4.55...he shared with mr Marley...who shared with me...I grew the 5.75 and got to hog all the glory...it was awesome... I believe he stops in from time to time...

so the line is domingo- lovelace-wahl-marley-marley-konieczny-(potential one or two in between-WR (maybe more than once)....I still have some thurber seeds from the 4.55. I got them to 2.5 pounds my first year...maybe I should try a few more. Thanks for the lineage info Porkchop. The is your answer Rebel...Sam Lovelace...former GPC rep SE...caused all this mayhem. I havent chatted with him for a very long time.

Yep. Sam was probably the first person I spoke to about giants. Done alot for NC growers (I think he started the yadkin valley weigh off). I chased his tomato record and it's funny to think I used his own lineage to do it. Come back and compete Sam!

Anyway, porkchop, rebel, you guys are leading the way now. Both have helped me and I appreciate it. I expect 10 pounds to come from these guys very soon.

...11 pounds from lambchop though.

A look back to where it all began in our gardens...another reminder of all the great people over the years willing to share their techniques, seeds, ideas and friendship...couldn’t be more thankful for y’all here on BP sharing your secrets over the years....although you can pretty much tell by that post I would become an expert...

So if Dale's records are accurate...The path to the WR is V Domingo-3.65 Knox 2010-2.48 Lovelace 2011-4.55 Wahl 2012-5.75 Marley 2014-5.55 Marley 2015-5.95 Konieczny 2016- (?) - 9.44 WR 2018 (others possible 2019+)

Many growers involved in this path. Gives me hope for the little tomatoes I will grow this year.

Thanks Porkchop for finding that old thread. I find it interesting...Master P...breaks Gordon Grahams record from the 1970's on Aug 22,2014 to claim the world record...on Sept 2,2014 ...he is on the boards giving advise to a new grower. He shared his growing techniques that winter...and brought giant growing to a whole new level. One of the many..that have brought us to where we are now.

Actually i have had almost no ctitter problems anymore. But i have to pick my tomatoes as soon as they flash color. All those criters can smell a tomato if you let it get 20% red. They got about 7 or 8 eating tomatoes this year but nothing else and its only because i left them on the plants to long.

well, that is why they had to go visit the neighbor porkchop...you are not feeding them. Let them tomatoes get ripe...i don't want them in my neighborhood.

If it's dry there they might be looking for moisture. Had this problem before and put bowls of water out and the problem went away. Worth a try, just sayin'

He’ll find moisture if I get ahold of him...that’s a fact...good tip

Might not be the best time to discuss it Porkchop, but you might have a beneficial idea.. Saving seeds based on shape.

Most of the tomatoes I have left in my garden are from my 6.32 dmg. 80% of them take the shape of the parent and the majority have the negative trait of the parent growing into the vine. These are only F3-F4

I wont know this year, which plant has the best nutrition...i do not have homogenous soil. But growth characteristics are definite. Maybe my next generation will not be the biggest, but the best shape and direction.

I know you know porkchop..this is not the end of you growing career...hey, it might not even be the end of your season...but maybe a little bump in the road..can lead to something bigger.
