do we think a 30 gallon container would be sufficient enough for these monster tomato’s any thoughts ?

I use 20 gallon pots to grow my giant tomatoes. When I've pulled the plants in the fall, the pots did not look like the tomato plants were root bound. Most of the roots were near the surface.

Yea wile coyote , yea sure it was dumb question when I already new the answer ! Nothing beats the ground , I Also grew my large heirloom tomatoes last year in 19 gallon containers and did great , almost to their full potential ,plants covered wit tomatoes 1lbs to 2 lbs 10 oz. at the end of season tipped over and examined root system not bad pretty consistent not root bound but full ! Even the bottom ! 22 inches deep these containers . plants were in gallon containers when planted is why there was plenty of roots on bottom , they were also planted deep , Anyway I decided to upgrade this year , thanks for your reply and good luck this year !

If you are getting plants loaded with 1-2lb tomatoes, you can compete in that big of a container growing just one. I hope the Domingo blows your mind this season...lol

I use 20 gallon pots to grow my tomatoes in an area of my yard that is considered off limits to growing. I move them to cut the grass and move them back when I am done. My wife doesn't complain because I grow 4 pots of cherry tomatoes.
