Hello Growers, Sad news Greenbud (Mike Parenty) Suddenly passed away yesterday morning. His wife wanted me to let his growing friends know of his passing. Mike was a dear friend to us , a great guy who will be missed. One thing he always talked about was tomato growing and all the information he was learning from this group, he loved this forum and and had so much respect for the tomato group. Ron

Sad to hear. Know he was excited about the Canadian variety he had been working on developing. Got some seeds from him to try this year. My condolences to his family,

That was sudden. I was just going to email him and ask him about that Canadian tomato variety. I will certainly be growing some of those next year. Sorry to hear that.

I didn't know Greenbud personally, but he was very kind and excited to send me some tomato seeds this fall. Hope to grow a giant Canadian for Mike this season.

Sorry to hear. Since it is a new variety, maybe we can rename Canadian to 'Parenty' or 'Big Mike' in memorial?

I agree with renaming the tomato. Big Mike is too much like Big Zac. Parenty seems better to me. The time to make the change is now when not many of us have actually grown it. Domingo was named after a guy whose last name was Domingo. That is why I like the name Parenty. I grew a few in pots last year and I think they have potential.

I am so sorry to hear of Mike’s passing.
He was so enthusiastic about giant Maters.
We had emailed last summer, discussing BER & ways to avoid it.
We traded some seeds so of course I received some of his Canadian variety.
I would second renaming it after him.
