Anyone willing to share their pruning thoughts?
keep all vegetation until a mega is set?
Just one main no suckers?
Turn first sucker into a 2nd main for a 2stem approach?
Terminate all vegetative growth after setting a keeper?

Feel free to ramble we need to hear all the techniques!

I’m usually not pruning too much once the very first truss opens up a flower. Maybe I’ll take the first two sucker side vines that come out at ground level if the plant is cranking but otherwise not so much pruning until that first truss blossom shows up. Maybe it’s a good one, I’ll get 20% of my plants having a decent blossom on the first truss but rarely get one set and growing well.( Zone 4 here so our season starts late. Sandbag Andy says it will frost tonight). If I did get a good one going on a first truss, I would probably McCoy the plant. Punching all the ends of the vines around day 10 and only grow fruit. Otherwise I’ll let the main grow, and every other side vine.I’ll Keep the suckers off the side vines. I might see a strong sucker on a weak vine and retrain the sucker as a new side vine. Basically try to keep a neat plant until something good shows up. I like shutting the vine tips right down within a few days off watching a blossom start to pop off. If I had more time , I like jacks idea of training a plant on cattle fencing to maximize canopy size without crowding the plant. I’m tilling this weekend.

If the new growth doesnt have a triple or better visible in the bud tip, and for leaves if its not going to fill in nicely an empty space/ hole in the plant, then it gets pruned. Those are my rules this year. I'm not much of a tomato plant psychologist, so beyond that, I haven't figured what other pruning would make them want to grow a nice tomato.

There's many different things to consider when pruning,there's not any one way fits all when talking pruning. You have to consider climate,temperature,humidity, biology, etc etc,I look at each plant and make decisions based on the individual plant,I do not have a standard procedure.
