Please enlighten me on the best way to harvest tomato seeds or just your personal methods.
I am trying to get seeds from a grape tomato variety with no luck.
Thanks in advance

Remove seeds from tomato with a 1/4; teaspoon.Place in bowl. When done placing seeds, fill bowl 3/4 full of water. Put 1 tablespoon of oxyclean in bowl and stir. Let sit for 30 minutes. Take bowl to sink and put contents through a strainer with water running. Push tomato flesh through strainer. When done, empty contents of bowl onto a paper plate and let dry for a week. Collect seeds from paper plate.

I went with the fermentation method like this example here. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/l2hQHNphPSo

I mash them up in a bucket and let it start to rot, stir occasionally because a white mold will form on the surface. After a week or two they should be pretty well liquified. Fill the bucket with more water and stir the mixture. Then pour off the flesh and skin. The viable seeds will be at the bottom. Add more water and repeat the last step as many times as needed until all the flesh and skin are poured off Dump the remaining seeds and water into a fine mesh colander. Spread on a plate to dry. Turn the seeds a few times as they dry to break them up and allow them to dry faster

They will sometimes start to sprout so just be aware that is a possibility.

I just put the jelly (that contain the seeds) in a plastic container. I try to keep the tomato chunks out tho I'm not sure it matters honestly. I put the lid on and let it set for a week or two. Sometimes it gets a mold coating but most of the time it doesn't. Then i take a fine mesh strainer and pour the seeds and goop into it over the sink. If it has broken down enough every thing should be liquid and wash down the drain leaving clean seeds. Sometimes the mold makes a film that is a pain but not too often. I take the strainer and turn it over and with a quick flick motion snap the seeds on to an old plate. I had problems once with the seeds sticking to a paper plate so I use regular ones but that was probably user error (shrug). Once on the plate I spread them out and drain off any excess water. Then I place them in a spot to dry. Once dry I sort. count, and package them up.

I have a sprayer setting on my faucet that really helps to wash off the seeds.
