There is probably something that triggers the gene. If you can figure out what chemically triggers the gene to activate, then you dont have to edit it out, you could just suppress its expression. These kinds of biochemistry things are so complicated, we usually only crack them by accident. PS I dont know how Sutherlands trick is, but I do know boron, zinc, and phosphorus and maybe some fish/kelp/alfalfa should be enough get you at least to the level of results that I got last year.

The next step after that might be to use Dan's gene editing software.

A 2nd article, similar to the first.

"The mutations affected the number of locules, or seed pockets, resulting in different fruit sizes."

I wonder if they studied the full distribution of flower size on each plant or if they were getting uniformly sized flowers.
