At what point should a hammock be built for a tomato? I have one that is a double with one side as big as a softball and the other side about baseball sized, at what point should support be given? I am very new to this. Thanks.

I would hammock whenever it looks like the stem may kink,a lot depends on the angle of the stem,I grew one last year that I never did put it in a hammock and I think it was over 10 lbs, can't remember for sure.

If you're going to keep it then may as well set up a hammock now. I had one that I did not hammock and it tore off on one side. It may have torn anyways but its possible a hammock would have helped. I use marking/flagging tape to hold the stem until they weigh a few pounds but that stuff tretches and could break, so when they're getting close to a few pounds they get a hammock.

Softball and a baseball sounds like you have a good one going LJ. Whats the Circ? I wouldn't take a chance of something bad happening might as well hammock it up. Good luck!
