At dinner after KGPG growers seminar...I sat across from pknheadVic!! I gave him a 64.8 Robb seed, and he said "I think I can beat that"!!! So my guess is YES, and Vic, will do it!!! So many more Giant Lope growers than before so odds are way up!!! Tennessee now has a world record holder, and I'm rootin for Kentucky to have one in 2011!!! Peace, Wayne

So, the 64.8 lb Robb is the world record from 2004. Still trying to learn about these things. The biggest problem is what?? That they split before reaching 65 or they stop growing & rippen ??

Tim, now that the KPM is No Longer a Viable Entity (Now the KGPG!!!)...where do I send dues to join the KMM!!! LOL Chris, growing vigorously, to ripe, to rott, is a very short time frame!!! If it's not dark green and growin...and starting to show a lil yellow!!! It's time to make a trip to yer local certified scale, w/ camera & local official in tow!!! Hopefully, some time soonly, we can convince GPC, to allow offsite weights, like they do w/ maters!!! Peace, Wayne

I heard a rumor there were going to be some big ones in Texas. If not big ones there will be a bunch of them for sure!!! I should have about 18 to 20 thousand seed this fall!! lol

From what I have heard there have been a few in NC over 64,(one 70+) all of them split or rotted. Before spudley's record NC was the place for lopes.

I think the plant structure is good enough. Fruit rotting or splitting seems to be a problem at those sizes. I know we have talked about what causes problems before. Probablly several culprits or combinations of culprits. But looking back there are a few seed lines that I have never had a split or rot on. Decendants of the 64 Robb is one of those lines. Could be something there too.
