Not sure I am understanding this correctly? Imadacloprid is a systemic...is that correct? Cuke beetles transfer disease to yer plants by chewin on em?...is that correct? If both of the first two questions are answered yes, then Imadacloprid seems to do you NO good!!!(against the disease transfer from cuke beetles!!) Don't you need a contact type of killer to stop the cuke beetles from chewin on yer plants??? Help me learn a lil here!!! Peace, Wayne

Yes to both of the first questions. It must work with the first bite or two.
Last year I set out my plants and between the 2nd and 3rd day the striped variety found them. The number of beetles was astounding and the damage was lethal. After treating with admire (I use it in my commercial plantings) 100's of dead bugs would be under the replacement plant with no visible signs of attack. Not every beetle is carrier of the disease. It's my understanding that they must have been exposed. The year prior I had a commercial pumpkin patch about 200 yds away and I did a poor job of bug control late in the season. Thus, I had a bunch of carryover bugs into last year. I was seeing squash bugs by this time last year. Unless you have an invasion from a sorry @$$ commercial grower near you like I did, I'd use the imadachloprid. If you grow without chemicals, I don't know what to suggest.

You need to stop beetles asap spray heavy then rinse plant if infested,PW is right it takes 2 seconds to infect plant, but not all are carriers, you have to stay on patch & spray before they munch,Merit stops svbs & will kill apphids & beets, but use other sprays, plant cucumbers around edge of patch there big bug magnets, then spray the snot out of these plants, even if you hurt the plant who cares!!kill the weeds around garden,if you have neighbors, see what there growing in there garden there most likely a breeding ground for inscects,Nuke your neighbors garden!!LOL
