What would you do? I have one that is turning yellow but still gaining good, 1 inch circ. a day. It feels solid on the blosoom and the bottom, but it is getting ripe fast. Its measuring 50 but is very fat. I slid two different bathroom scales under it and got 49 on one and 57 on the other. Its still growing but I'm afraid it will split on me. Would you leave it one more night? I would hate for it to weigh 49.9 LOL

Do something to cool the melon to the 65-70 degree range and wait one more day. Just a thought!

Agree with Dave 100%. Mine all yellowed really, really fast when it was hot. Oh yea, hopefully the scale that read 57 is right.

Well I picked it, probablly should have waited. Bro Dave was right. The thing was slap yellow in the patch after a few hours in the ac it is turning a little greener. It wasn't fully netted yet so I'm figuring the heat matured it early. Same thing happen last year only difference it blew.

The wrong scale was right. My parents had a digital scale it weighed 48.6 on it. We checked it with a 5 lb weight and it was dead on. Weighed it on my platform scale got the same weight. So I took it to the feed store which has a certified scale which was checked about 9 months ago, weighed 47.9 on it. Good thing we got the GPC for Watermelons and pumpkins LOL. Maybe I should have cooled it off a little and let it go another day or two, but it was a personal best so can't be too disapointed.

I'm done with the lopes now, I had one more on the 50 Edwards that I decided to push it as far as it would go. It was covered in fruit flies today. Cracked on the back side. Pile of mush.
