The seeds were out of a melon that only weighed 30+ and came from P&P seeds. Ray told me they were good ones and boy howdy was he right!

Sorta takin a shot in the dark, but thinkin that this makes me believe that Giant Lope development is in it's early stages!!! No disrespect meant to anyone!!!(Esp. Scott) I think 100#er is coming soonly!!! What I mean is...folks found bp.com, and pkn sizes went thru the roof(1810)!!! Folks found bp.com, and melons have set New World Records (291)! Now folks have found bp.com and Lopes are GROWING!!! ie...(2009,PHVic,grows 48#er in KY)...Superman Kent first year out,2010 grows 55+!!! Peace, Wayne PS.. hells bells, I got one tapin almost 40#'s, and I am known as the original skunk cap kid!!!!!

I think the weights will definitely rise but 100 IMHO is a bit high. High 70s to mid 80s sure. They just won't hold for any extra amount of time. When they are ripe they are ripe. Yes they continue to grow and tape bigger and look fine but ten minutes later they are done. I believe the old saying goes when they are ready they just slip from the vine. Meaning they detach themselves. You ain't got a choice it's over. Great job everybody and good luck next year.

Spudley is right about ripening. We have to find a way to prolong ripening. Most of mine that get much over 2 ppd split. Most all of the 50+ pounders I know of grew for 50+ days. Warmer the temps the fewer days you have. Mine was ripe this year before day 45. Theres a hint Wayne ;)
