Any body out there know where I can find the Info and Stats on Cantaloupe records in Illinois? I've just posted and (don't know if their up yet) pics of a couple of 32 Lb.ers I picked yesterday but have some bigger ones that I want to pick green for weight and was wondering what the record was for Illinois. If you know where I can get the Info please let me know. When I google for info all I find is Listeria, Listeria, Listeria....Way to Go Holloway on the latest Lope...KUDOS to You Buddy!!!! Now if you could just do the same thing to a Peach there in Georgia lol.

Joseph, For some records other than pumpkins, state records may not be kept by an organization. Check with some of the clubs. Go ahead and properly document your lope. If you can't time it for a weighoff, First weigh it on state certified scales with a witness or county extension agent, have them sign writen documentation to the weight of the lope. Be sure to take pictures of all sides to document that it was in sound condition. You may have to set a presedence if no one keeps the records, hopefully someone reading this will have some info.

Thanks for the congrats and good luck with your lopes. Ironically, no kidding, before I bought my farm the largest peach tree in Georgia grew next to the old barn on my property. A storm blew it down several years ago. It must have been planted before grafts and hybrids because I remember the tree was huge but the fruit was tiny. Smaller than a black walnut.

Hey Thanks for the advice. I call the county extension office tomorrow. Sad about the peach tree. Later, Joseph
