How many days from seed to actual fruit for colossal cantaloupes cause I got approved from the corporation office like three days ago to attempt the record and when is the best time to plant them. I'm debating whether to plant them may 24 or a week earlier.

I didn't know you had to be approved to attempt a record?

Good luck on your record attempt. I thought you only needed to contact Guiness if you actually broke a world record, not just to attempt to break it. If everyone that attempted to break a WR sent in an application to do so then they would be flooded with paperwork and wouldn't have time to confirm the actual records that have already been grown lol. I think a new WR lope will be grown this year..... in NE Arkansas!!

I'may just glad to see more people interested in growing cantaloupes again, the problem I have is BES. 59 lbs is the biggest I've got, and since then haven't got close. I predict the record will be broke more than once this year.

Charles & Josh, I agree that the lope record will be broken this year. But not north of me or south of me...but here in the Great Commonwealth of Kentucky!!! Peace, Wayne & you don't have to have it at weighoff time, mark's new contest let's you weigh it early...like maters, but not bp, I think.Involves entering his contest, and making a video of lope on the scale, etc!! Peace, Wayne

Not to be confused, seed to ripe fruit is more like 85-90 days. Josh got it right on start to finish date approximation.

OK. Thanks everyone and brotherdave I think I was right about that part too after I got off the phone with a friend of mine who's parents own a family owned nursery said the same thing also 85-90 days.
