R H Shumway sells an open pollenated silage corn that gets 14 to 15' tall.

Corn needs lots of nitrogen for tall stalk growth. Phosphorus gives good roots and potash for grain production. If I was using commercial fertilizer like 12-12-12, without a soil test I would want a rate close to 180 pounds of each element per acre.

Many many years ago I had fantastic results with plain old Indian corn planting it where we had buried fish guts and heads for a couple of years. Plants that normally got 6' to 8'tall went 12' to 14' tall. The old story of the Indians putting a fish in the hill before planting corn really works.

I tried the "fish in the hill" trick a few years ago...dogs dug up the corn to get the fish...lol Had to replant.

I recommend corn from the Jala Valley in Mexico. It is sometimes difficult to produce viable ears, but it's generally considered one of the tallest. This past year was my first growing it, and I had many plants at 17 ft., and one over 18 ft.
