I want to plant a row of giant corn next to my sweet corn. I don't care about seeds from these plant but want good sweet corn for this year. If the giant corn pollinates the sweet corn will it have any effect on the sweet corn for this year. thanks

going to have an issue...it will cross pollinate and result in not so great corn. Our Ornamental corn and sweet corn are 100 feet apart. We still get some cross pollination.

Very true . Do not plant next to each other if you tend to eat the sweet corn.

I Grew a row of giant corn 'goliath' right in the sweet corn patch last year. I did not have any problems. I have done this before without any problems. Just make sure that the giant corn and sweet corn won't be pollinating at the same time. Make sure they start tasseling at least 2 weeks apart.

Mexican tall corn has a very long season. Your sweet corn will be done pollinating a month before any of the tall corn tassles appear. I have been growing tall corn next to our sweet corn for years with no problems.

Larry grows them so tall he ties them off with double three way guy lines. :)) True! He would need a hook and ladder support team to trim the tassel if need be.
