How far apart do people plant their sunflowers to achieve maximum head size. I am going to plant a field full of giant sunflowers and wonder how far apart to plant.

Not sure, but would suggest 12-18 inches or more...the leaves on the plants do get quite large!!! Not a pro here, but would try & give em plenty of room. Peace, Wayne

4 feet is good. eack plant will have a 20 to 25 inch root ball. If theyre closer theyll get taller but it may hurt the size of the flower/head

Thanks for the info guys. It's going to be cool to see a couple hundred giant headed sunflowers swaying in the wind. :)
