any inventive ideas for tying up a roll of sunflower plants without using a rod for each plant? I was thinking about driving rods in the ground on each end of the roll. then running rope/cable every couple feet between the rods. then tying the plants off to the cables. I'll listen toany ideas. I got my plants in late due to weather and squirrels. but there growing great now. thanks

Kenny, the one year I had a big head...I had it staked by it self...to do a whole row w/ a single cable inbetween & tying off to each plant...? Will have to be tough stakes w/tight cable inbetween!!! Big seed heads get weigh heavy!!! Good luck!!! Maybe 3,5,7 rods depending on the length of yer row? Tying them together would prbly offer better support than a single rod/post!! Peace, Wayne

Wayne I have 2 rolls of 8 plants each right next to my deck. they look beautiful, and are about 9 ft each. the blooms are coming. I was thinking about getting reinforcing rods 16 ft long hammer them into the ground 4 ft or so at each end of the roll. then place a cable 8 ft off the ground from rod to rod. tie each plant to the cable, them add a cable every foot or so as the plants grow. funny thing is it works in my mind. but honestly in being cheap. I just dont want to lose these plants. I've had to replant these 3 times this spring. I've put more work into these than my pumpkin. LOL thanks for your help

Good luck Kenny, hope it awl works out!!! or UP!!! Use something softer than cable b/tween rods & plants!!! A role o/fabric tape is fairly cheap!! PS...I have found a local welder who for real cheap will weld two 8' T posts together end to end!!! Makes a very solid 15' T post!!! Grow em Big &/tawl!!! Peace, Wayne
PS...I stand close to the top of my 12'step ladder to pound these T posts into the ground!!!!! LOL
