Nearly all of todays sweet corn has been bred to fit in a standard shipping box. This means the majority of the shucked ears will be about 2x8 inches. If size is your main concern I've grown 2 that have a tough time fitting that mold. Incredible (yellow) and silver king (white). Both are homozygous SE and are good eating. Size increases with good management. Better eating varieties are out there. http://www.bigpumpkins.com/MsgBoard/ViewThread.asp?b=14&p=499329

In many seed catalogs they often offer ear length in the variety description. If you want big ears look for those that are 9". If you want wide ears choose varieties with lots of rows (16-20) I have grown 'Incredible' and the ears were nice and large. Gurneys has one called 'Double Delicious' that has big ears. 'Lancelot is an older Harris variety with wide, big ears.
