I germinated two seeds from the same 2013 parent. Both seeds germinated and broke through the earth within hours of each other. Both are doing well but the taller of the two had a purple stalk versus the fuzzy light green on the other. The taller plant (only by a few inches) is now growing the fuzzy light green stalk and is about a leaf ahead of the other plant. My first thought was that the plant with the purple stalk had experienced shock, but it is clearly growing faster than the other. Both will hit the dirt within a week but am curious about the differences in color?

I have also had some start with a purple stalk, but it will turn in time. What I have seen is the ones I get with the purple stalk have always been my best ones for the year. So don't give up on it.

My purple stalk plant is now about twice as tall as the other. I've planted them outside next to each other to observe and compare.
