The weather has been terrible up here in the north. Managed to set one female each on two of my plants in between rain storms. A bit worried as the pollinated parts are all damp and I can't put a fan on them in the rain. I'm betting the south island may grow NZ's big one this year as they have had a bit more sun than we have up here. Hoping the weather may break out into sun next week. Always hopeful. Time for me to start battling powdery mildew again too so some sun would be greatly appreciated.

our weather has been ok but no where near as warm as last summer we also had a state of emergency issued due to the amount of rain nearly 100 homes unlivable but the pumpkins don't seem to mind although they are growing slower than I hoped but steady. my main concern is the stem splits I have may end my season prematurely. my biggest kin is 67"

Try cutting fizzy drink bottles top and bottom and then slit through the middle. Cover your stem spilts with these to keep the rain out. Clear ones are best as they seem to deterr insect invasion. You may need to trim to size. Just let them wrap loosley around. Always good to have a bit of air flow. If oozing starts a fan is a good idea.

The weather sure is a pain, I have no idea what my plants are up to as I am having the week off in Rotorua. Will be interesting to see how they are when I get back.

i built a little house over my root stem and all is well now. the 1st kin has aborted, but the second kin has taken. im running late this year, but have a very nice vine.... even though it is unkempt. like the comment of 67" pumpkin at this early stage.... what with the weather! sounds like a potential BIG pumpkin.
good luck guys and gals
especially with this crazy weather

pollinated dec 18 67" on day 22 now 90" day 26 so picking up the pace between 29 and 32 pounds per day last 3 days and stem splits have cleared up a lot so hoping it pulls through.
