Here is a copy of the rules and regs. We will have around $2000 in prize money. It is not yet decided on how it will be divided. Please note : YOU must have grown the pumpkin you are entering.You can not have family members show your pumpkins

DIDIER FARMS

RULES AND REGULATIONS


·    A specimen must be registered between 8:00-10:00am on October 1st 2005
·    The weigh-off will start at 12:00 noon
·    The competition is open to all persons in any part of the world.
·    An exhibitor may only enter one specimen. The family of an exhibitor may enter no more then two specimens. Including the specimen of the exhibitor.
·    The family member entering the pumpkin, other then the exhibitor, MUST have grown the pumpkin.
·    An exhibitor must be present for the competition.
·    An exhibitor or other family member shall not enter the same specimen in competition prior to or on the day of the weigh-off held at Didier Farms
·    A specimen must be grown by the exhibitor in the state he/she resides
·    ONE CLASS PUMPKIN this includes color variations of mottled orange, yellow, cream, or green. NO SQUASH 100% GREEN can compete for prizes but can be officially weighed after paying a registration fee.
·    A specimen must not have any hole to the cavity of the fruit or be leaking fluids. If a specimen has these defects it will be deemed as EXHIBITION ONLY and cannot complete for prizes
·    The stem must be trimmed to the same width of the vine
·    Foreign material may not be included in the weighing (Including Tarps)
·    Specimens of equal weight will be declared co-winners and prizes split
·    No entrant or spectator shall attempt to influence the judges or impede the proceeding of fair competition.
·    TWO CATORGORIES: Adults 16years of age or older. Children under the age of 16years old.

I dont understand why the stem needs to be trimmed?

The vine must be trimmed to the same width of the stem of the pumpkin. No extra vine allowed
