Although there is a list of all the GPC Sanctioned Weigh-Off's i was just thinking about what other Weigh-Off's there may be that are not GPC Sanctioned. If anyone can chime in here the following information would be of great interest. I am basically trying to establish how many Giant Pumpkin/Squash Competitions there are in the World.

1. What State, County or Country are they in.
2. What is the name of the Growers Group, Club or Organisation and any Websites that they may have and/or contact information for the organisers.

If all the relavent information could be added to this thread it would be greatly appreciated.

You will have a list as long as my "Honey Do" list. In the United States every town almost has a Pumpkin Weigh Off. Most of the winners are around 200lbs. We brought our Big Pumpkin to one of these weigh offs this year. 1st Prize was $25.00. Needless to say they have never seen a pumpkin that big.

Mike, The Canby Giant Pumpkin Festival in Canby Oregon and the Terminator Weighoff at Lincoln City Oregon are both non GPC events. They are both sponsored by the PGVG.

The Terminator is an official International Pumpkin Association (IPA) site, however.

Rockton, Ontario, Canada has a very good regional fair with the winners around the 700 lb+. www.pumpkinnook.com is a good place to start if you are looking for a list of weighoffs.

I think that there is a giant pumpkin competition at the Markham Fair (Markham, Ontario): http://www.markhamfair.ca/

and, I know that there is one at the Royal Winter Fair (Toronto, Ontario): http://www.royalfair.org/

I don't think that either of these are connected to the GPC, although, I know that some of the participants are GVGO members. The Royal Fair will have results posted. I don't know about the Markham fair. I couldn't find results on that site.

once we get the 2005 gpc award results posted we will begin shortly there after to discuss new business for 2006

we will be discussing a restructure of the site fees presently used for new and existing sites
( possibly a four step program to allow new and /or smaller sites and groups the opportunity to come on board )

i would also like to see more steering committe members elected, ( those who want to get involved, especially if we are successful expanding our site locations )

i would also like to see the gpc continue to be a club that consolidates results ,rewarding growers at each site while at the same time paying tribute to our top sites and growers world wide
i feel we accomplished a lot during 2005 and in 2006 we can get the job completed

we welcome any suggestions you may have
