Any one know of an amatuer or pro carver, who would be willing to carve a giant, at the first AG weigh-off in Kentucky on the 29th of Sept. Funds are limited, but hopefully something could be worked out. Great to see them carved. Hopefully someone can help us out!!! Peace, Wayne

Check a post from Jeri in general discussion who was looking for a carver. I referred her to Gus Smithhisler. I do not have the pertinent info with me at this time as I am currently in Maryland, but I gave that info to her in the post.

Scott Cully of Oregon may be able to carve he`s an awsome carver and has carved some world records in the past.Cary Polka has talked to him before so you will have to talk to her or someone else that knows him for his contact information I personally love his carvings.

Thanks!

GPDude, I met Gus at the Indy fair and we talked...he is already booked for the wknd of our weigh-off, thanks. Jordan, I will talk with Cary, but unless Scott is already in the neighborhood, he is prbly out of the question due to logistics and $$'s!! Thanks to all. Any other suggestions??? Peace, Wayne
PS...an amature, 1st timer, with some sculpting ability would be okay...How bout a chain saw ice carver??? LOL All ideas are welcome!!! Peace, Wayne

Wayne, if you have some forestry guy connections you might have a lead there. I know up that the either Mason County field day or another North Eastern Kentucky county has a wood carver with the chain saw at their field days each year. He's GOOD. Don't know any other details but start with the county extension agent there. It used to be David Appleman - no he's the Bracken County agent and I *THINK* it was the Bracken County field day (it's been a few years since I was up for that).
