Cornerstone Weigh Off > We open at 7:30am. The load in begins at 10am or earlier and Growers meeting at 11:30am.

Weigh-off starts at 12 noon.


A cold beverage or beer will be available and lunch will be provided by Kings Buffet for a modest sum.

I will weigh one of my medium sized fruits and exhibit all of the smaller ones. I have heard from the NY state growers and expect a good turn out this year. We hope upwards of 20 pumpkins will be weighed. The goal is to remain within the top ten of the GPC and move up a couple of notches.

I would like to again encourage all growers to bring a lawn chair and their note books. We are really pushing this year to have on site growth data entered for all fruit anbd uploaded into BP.com. New this season is coming the Ailts /Landry 2009 Benchmark OTT study. I need your support to begin this effort.

There is no sign of any of the major diseases at the Cornerstone site.

All growers should be aware we have a few plants that are heavily infected with PM

Silver entry, 25 Weigh off, 1 entry includes entry into the main weigh-off prizes & draws.

Gold entry, 40 Plus New or Renewal Membership in the GIANT VEGETABLE GROWERS OF ONTARIO.

Platinum entry, 55 Family Plan, Includes all of the above plus three category entries. Three category rule applies to cash prizes only. Additional separate entries will be required for more than three categories.

All GPC other rules apply.

Growers may wish to weigh-in the GVGO 2006 endorsed pumpkins.

Fruit from the 901 Leonard, 941 MacKenzie and 1058 Timm may be weighed at no cost during the Cornerstone separately from the weigh-off competition.

$600 winner take all to the largest officially weighed fruit from these 3 mothers good luck.

Cornerstone Weigh-off Update > No entry fees for tall corn and Sunflowers.

I would like to thank all growers for their support of the Cornerstone Early Anything Weigh-Off. We have expanded the prize package to include Watermelon, Tomato, Sunflowers and Tall Corn this year. No registration fee is required for either Sunflowers or Tall Corn.

I hope to increase the site average and remain within the top ten of the GPC and maybe even have the Long Gourd record for a few days before the bigger events start up at the end of the month.

One reminder to all growers, please bring your growth data and record keeping books with you. There is much information that needs to be recorded. In addition to the GPC data that is submitted to BP.com I am starting on the NEW OTT BENCHMARK STUDY. Forms will be available for all growers to complete on Saturday. I understand that this can be a pain for growers to complete but the information is vital to promote the continuing success of the benchmark study and the hobby itself.

For now the patches and yard are extremely clean and ready to go so, Good Luck to all.
