Well we had our first ever weigh off here in Pemberton today, and despite some grizzly weather we had ouselves a pretty good time. We had 13 entries and about 50 spectators that braved the elements to come and see what exactly all the fuss was about.

Last spring I put together some seed packs from my '06 pumpkins that were sold by our local Farmers Institute at a seed sale, along with a little info sheet for $5 a pack. So 95% of these growers are first timers but with limited knowledge and seeds I think they all did pretty well. All of them were very excited about the weighoff and I think we've got them hooked for life now!

Exhibition: Chad Gilmore 890 lbs (it lost 8 lbs sinced first being picked and weighed 10 days ago, I wish I could!)

We took in around $250 from our seed sale in the spring to use for prize money and we decided that all entrants would receive the same prize, a 2008 menbership to the GVGO. A great seed pack and awesome news letters, what more can you ask for. Phil, I will be in touch soon to get these folks hooked up and payed up. Some of the looks on their faces were priceless when I told them they won a paid membership to some association in Ontario!!

Lastly I would like to thank Glenn Dixon for making the trek up the highway from Vancouver today, it was good to see you buddy, and we'll have to do it again soon.

Congrats Chad and thanks for the ringing endorsement of the GVGO. We welcome all new members into the fold. We really think that giving all the growers that entered a GVGO membership is a great idea. What a great way to get new growers more interested in growing these giants. We'll do all we can to help these growers reach & exceed their expectations. Thanks again Chad.
