Okay Floh, I know you got a big one out there...I have decided to go to the wiegh-off despite my lack of gigantic wieght....you going? Would really enjoy seeing you and Alex there, sharing some tips, maybe even seeds? Still got about 29 days to go, if the weather stays good, who knows, maybe I'll get a magically growth spurt!!!LOL

Owen, I´ll make my decision to go or not in about two weeks. I have a 1986 VW bus for the transport and it´s 500 miles from here to Ludwigsburg and back, so I really have to think about it, better to say: see what the remaining pumpkin will do in September. Let´s email about it next time.
I´m not sure what Alex is doing right know since his biggest Kurilich pumpkin rotted away. I´m sure he has a lot of work with his 250.000 other plants this time of the year...

Hi Owen, glad to here, that you manage to go to the weigh-off. Me and my better half are also about to at least to be there (i am not sure if they are accepting a such a small pumpkin as mine is - despite the fact, its still growing, i shouldn have any trouble to transport at at my back-seat of my mercedes). - If they are accept this, then i will at least save the admitance price, hehe.

I would be happy to make up a metting point/time to meet you and perhaps ingo and alex (if they are there), to get known and maybe exchange seeds or something. Would really be.

Anyhow, I´ve decided to go! What´s the end of a season without a weig-off?
Father is eventually going to borrow his station wagon, depends on weight and size of the pumpkin at that time. Maybe I´ll also bring my neighbour Joerg who is growing one of my plants with a smaller one going now. Let´s go there to meet and for the fun of it. Maybe we should exchange handy numbers not to miss, it´s a huge area.
PS, Owen, bring the crate of beer from our football bet, if not winning anything we should at least have a drink..hehe..

Okay guys here is the link to the web page to download the sign up formula - http://www.juckerfarmart.ch/index2.cfm?bereich=events.cfm&titel=events. All you have to do is fill it out and fax it in. When you arrive in Ludwigsburg, go to Moempelgardstrasse 28, on the left side should be a big gate into the fest grounds, this is where we can drive the pumpkins in at. My handy number is 0173-4495830.

Hope to see you there!....owen

i dont know what you said owen. das in the nuter version of the, and kuerbis is pumpkin? du is you, ich is they? it is german one and ive only had the class for a week. hast in du hast means hate?

Ben,
in that sentence "das" is : I hope "that" you...
kuerbis is a pumpkin, Riesenkuerbis is a giant pumpkin so "riesen" stands for giant
"du" is like "you" in english, the difference is in german you call a friend, relative etc. "du", but you say "sie" to older persons, people you don´t know etc., being formal as Mr. everybody or "yesss, sirrrr..."
"they", "sie" in german, is plural, several persons. Same like before, but different expressions.
"Ich" is "I" or me, relating to you.
First late night german lesson. Wow, again 00:56pm over here.

oh, "hast" is not hate, completing the sentence it means "I hope you have a giant pumpkin in your garden" where "hast" is have. Ich habe/I have (yourself)- Du hast/you have (a friend)- Sie haben/you have (your boss)- sie haben/they have (several persons).

huh. isnt sie - her? we learned that sie heiss(e? spell?) ist (whatever her name is. man german is cool but difficult. i like that class. my last name is german, bortner, i already knew that before the class though.

Yo Ben, german IS difficult. "sie" is also she, and "her" is the next declination, like "she has a pumpkin" / "this is her pumpkin".
Let´s suggest a language board to Ken and John or better email me for your questions, I´ll be glad to help you and good luck with your german class.
