We had our first little weigh off here in Reno, Nevada and there was some fun times. We have organized more and have a Nursery that is helping up this year in hosting and doing a lot of the organization.
My question to you all is if anyone has procedures and tips on keeping them running smooth and ideas to get donations for the scale or really anything at all about organizing and running the weigh off I would love to hear about them.
Please either post here or email me at bookey@gmail.com

I'm working on a comprehensive "so you wanna be a weighoff" email for my newest GPC site.
For now please review the video series I have on youtube.

Doug, my only suggestion is to get several helpers. Lot's of work to be done at a weighoff. Registration, measuring for est. weights, scale crew...to bring pkns to the scales, (safely). Etc. Hope this helps. Peace, Wayne

Thanks guys, I have a crew working with me and they are super helpful dong alot of the legwork since they work at the nursery we are going to host it at. So things are moving and I think this year will be a fun first attempt (well second) attempt at having something worthwhile.

Bust yours right now until you find the scale. Be persistent.
Plan plan plan ahead. Get everything done earlier than later. I was told a minimum of 6 on your crew, I will believe it! Have your paperwork organized and done in packets two weeks early, trust me there.
Treat your forklift operator kindly and well. :)
Blessed are those that pallet their fruit. For the rest get extra pallets!
One liftring is nice, two is better.
Get your judge crew trained in early.
Find seating stuff for your spectators, it will help keep them out of the way of forklift as well. Planks and haybales work and are quick.
You can't advertise it enough.
You can't have enough sponsors (aka your body is for rent, teeshirt, hat, and all).
Relax and have fun.
