Well here are the results of the Henry county Giant Pumpkin Weigh-off, Also know as the Mt. Pleasant Giant Pumpkin Family weigh-off. I want to thank everyone that has helped this weigh-off over the years with seeds, Cash! and support that goes into running a small local event. The Mt. Pleasant Agri-Center is the major sponsor and without them this could not happen.
Well this year started out with much promise but mother nature thought other with all the rains, heat and humidity. Many growers are just now setting pumpkins that are 100 pounds and bigger but too young to pick.Danville, IA has a small weigh-off the 14th of Oct. and I hope some of these will make it there to help them out.It looks like next year will be bigger and better with much more interest. It seems when you get lemons you get lemon-aid.We have a couple more people going to grow for the Iowa State Fair next year and both growers could contend with some good soil and 2-3 years under there belts. Anyway here are the results of the weigh-off and as of the last 3 years most are all kids entries.They loved there big ribbons and there photos with there fruit.
