This is my first year growing giant pumpkins. I have three the biggest is about 400 lbs. I know I stand no chance of winning but I would love to enter in the Big E just for the expirience and meet some others who grow as well. I know no one else who does this but I am completely obsessed and can't wait for next year. Would it just be totally embarrassing with a 400 pounder or should I go ahead?

Bird dog, if the entry fee is less than $500, & you are less than a ten hour drive from weighoff site, then you would be nuts not to go...connections w/ other growers at weighoff's is one of the BEST things that happen in this insane community!!!! PS...you might get a jab or two for size, but it will awl be in fun. In KY. we award a Skunk Cap for the smallest pkn officially weighed!!!! It's awl in fun, I know personally as I was the 1st official winner of the cap!!! Peace, Wayne

I think the date for Big-E entries has passed. If the Big-E does not work out bring your pumpkin to the Topsfield Fair on 9/30.

The "BIG E" Sept.23, 6:30 pm, in the Mallary Arena 2entries for each weigh-off must arrive between 5-5:45pm
"Each exhibitor must have sent in an entry form with a $5.00 entry fee per veg. by August 31..."
Close to your area, If you can hold it for a while they're having the 1st annual Wachusett Mountain Giant Pumpkin Weigh-off Oct. 15-16, at 2:00pm
Both listed in the NHGPGA Newsletter.
Topsfield is a real experience though. Good Luck. kevin
