The Southern Ohio Giant Pumpkin Growers' weighoff will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Lowe's. Adress is:

Watermelons and field pumpkins as well as other vegetable entries will be weighed at 10:30 A.M., with pumpkins and squash immediately following. To register on Friday, October 7th, contact Tony Vanderpool at: 740-703-6698 or tonyvanderpool@roadrunner.com to schedule a time. Lowe's will provide storage for giant pumpkins until the weighoff. Registration will begin at 8:30 A.M. on the 8th at Lowe's. The winning giant pumpkin will be required to remain at Lowe's for display until October 22nd. Afterward, you may either pick the pumpkin up yourself or the SOGPG will harvest, process, and send the seeds to you. The SOGPG will retain some seeds, depending upon the seed yield.

Payouts are as follows:


Giant Pumpkins:

1st place: Trophy and $2,000.00
2nd place: $800.00
3rd place: $500.00
4th place: $300.00
5th place: $150.00
6th through 10th place: $100.00
11th through 15th place: $75.00
16th through 20th place: $50.00


True green squash:

1st place: $100.00
2nd place: $75.00
3rd place: $50.00


Watermelons:

1st place: $300.00
2nd place: $100.00
3rd place: $75.00
4th place: $50.00
5th place: $40.00
6th place: $35.00

According to my newsletter, no LG prize structure. Field pumpkins are: 1st $35, 2nd $25 & 3rd $20
