The Southern Ohio Giant Pumpkin Growers committee is very pleased to officially announce the SOGPG's new affiliation with Hamilton, Ohio's Operation Pumpkin celebration, held on the first weekend of every October beginning on Friday and ending on Sunday. After several meetings with Operation Pumpkin's organizing committee, the SOGPG will assume all giant pumpkin and vegetable competition organizing responsibility AND prize payouts.

After visiting the city yesterday, the committee is VERY impressed with what Hamilton has to offer in the way of a site in the middle of its historic downtown district. Much of the downtown area will be blocked to traffic and the celebration will include music, dance groups, many food vendors, a pumpkin regatta, and pumpkin launching. Several of Ohio's wineries will be participating with acoustic entertainment and wine tastings and local micro breweries will have a beer garden located within the main entertainment stage.

Didn't they have a Non-GPC weigh off last year on 5 October? If so, how many people showed up? I thought you had some pretty big pay-outs for top 20.

now thats the way to hold a event. a stand alone weighoff is great but when you hold it in an area where large groups can be attracted via stores,vendors,exibits,etc? the skys the limit.
