I know that there isnt much of a following just yet for us Long Island growers, but we have some die hards, and hopefully we can get some more in the works. In any event, after much planning and negotiating, there will be a weighoff at Hicks Nursery in Westbury on October 5. Basic GPC rules apply with the exception of color. Bring your fruits at 9:00 AM, weighoff starts at 12:00. Prize schedule is $500 for first, $300 for second, and $200 for third. Since this is there first year and basically they're really not sure what its all about, I will be helping out with the hosting duties. However, because of that, i will not be competing. I will have a couple of fruit there, but will weigh them as exibition only, as hopefully at least one of them will be weighed the day before at our GPC site. Consider it a "bye" year :)
