Barnesville Ohio Pumpkin Festival Weigh-Off raises prize money to pay $2.00 per pound!!!

In an effort to give back to the giant pumpkin growing community for their time and money spent in the pumpkin patch, the Barnesville Ohio Pumpkin Festival Weigh-Off (GPC member) will now pay $2.00 per pound for the 2016 “King Pumpkin” (1st place prize).

The 2016 weigh-off will be held in Barnesville, Ohio on September 21, 2016 between 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. EST.

So, if you want to take this year’s BIG CASH $$$ Prize, start planning for our weigh-off event now.

I am a first year grower from SW PA. My family has a hunting camp just outside of Quaker City, OH. I took my family to Barnesville Pumpkin Festival 2 years ago and have been obsessed with these giants ever since. Spent 2 years getting ready and made my first go at it this year. I have 1 kin left and really wanted to make Barnesville my first weigh off. Having never done this before just wanted to make sure I do everything right. Is there a date I need to pre-register by? Do I need to have the kin loaded so it can be unloaded with fork lift? Or do you use a lifting ring at Barnesville? What time should I get there on night of the weigh in? Anything else you can recommend greatly appreciated!!!

Hey Bma113. You are certainly welcome to attend the Barnesville Ohio Pumpkin Festival Weigh-Off. You do not have to pre-register for our Weigh-Off and there is no entry fee. Your pumpkin does need to arrive at the Weigh-Off on a pallet. We do use a crane and lifting ring to lift the pumpkins to the scales. After we weigh, the pumpkin is returned to the pallet to be moved to a display area. Our Weigh-Off is from 6-9 pm on September 21st. Since you are coming a distance I would try to arrive in Barnesville at 6pm.
