http://www.igpga.com/ Thank you Henry "Baitman" for all the hard work you do with the new IGPGA website. To let all growers know that this is the new Chicagoland Area GPC event on Saturday Sept. 24th. Here is a link to the farm also. http://ourpumpkinfarm.com/ If any grower needs to call me at 815 483 5552 then do so if you need more info.

CRITICAL INFO FOR DECISION MAKING: Seigel Farms retains the winning pumpkin to didplay until Nov 1.st. I live 2 miles from the farm. If a,soft spot develops while on display I will harvest the seeds that day. Everyone knows how important the seeds are and I personally treat everyones pumpkins as if my own and many years wear bib overalls on a cool day and not rush matters. There are no exceptions. Some growers were not informed in years past and we don't want the uncomfortable situation that arises at that point. Hope yo have a great turnout at this new site and gonna be a great time as always slinging them to scale.

What if your pumpkin makes the gpc top 3? Will it be released to go to NY?

yep same IGPGA weigh off just at a different location.
We are discussing the NY Trip with Siegel's an will respond back to this post and make an announcement asap if they choose to allow the winning pumpkin to go to NY or not to the GPC to add to the website info. Its a new site and this was discussed back in the spring but will make sure all parties involved are crystal clear very soon. Thanks.

Yes....100 percent crystal clear if a top 3 pumpkin is weighed at Siegel's and invited to NY they are fine with this and would love to encourage anyone with a monster to know they will also protect the pumpkin also and not let it get damaged while in their intermediate possession. Hope to see some monsters...its gonna be a great event and the Siegel's are very enthused to have a great time!

A person who enters a pumpkin by paying the $25 entry fee gets into the park for free and gets 4 wristbands to distribute to friend and family to have full access to the farm and weigh off inside farm gates.
Any other person that does not receive a wristband coming to see the weigh off must pay 15 dollars to get into farm to see the weigh off and have full access to the farm.

The IGPGA would like to announce that In addition to prize money we have GPC ribbons for second through 10th place for AG pumpkin winners . Also a plaque with Siegels name for heaviest overall pumpkin and a plaque for Howard Dill award.
We have no prize money for these categories but we do have, plaque for heaviest squash. ribbons for 1st place long gourd ribbons for 1st place watermelon ribbons for 1st place field pumpkin. This is a first time event for a GPC weigh off in Illinois
If my research is correct no Illinois grower has ever weighed a Squash or Field pumpkin at any GPC event , you should be the first !
There is only one entry for long gourds which was in 2014, and watermelon in 2014 and 2015. Lets get these categories started now.
