Yes, it was! Thanks! After all the problems I had in the patch this season I am very thankful to get her to the scale.

I thought I might get DQ'd as a squash but the judges said it was OK. Your right though, two more weeks on the plant and it would have been 75% green!!

One grower at Topsfield said it could be from too much potasium. Nic Welty has some interesting color facts on his pumpkin web site. The address is: http://web.raex.com/~ldnwelty/Colormanipulation/Shade.htm

Check the pictures of both a DARK green fruit and a DARK orange fruit grown by Winston Wyckoff on the same plant but shaded differently (scroll to the bottom). After seeing this I think the whole color rule should be abolished.

This is just me summizing but the way i figure it, the Topsfield event wasn't a GPC event this year (due to the early date) so they weren't bound by GPC classification rules this year. I would imagine that when the growers go to reweigh this weekend for GPC inclusion there would be quite a few classification (pumpkins/squash) changes to meet GPC rules.Ken, where there any REAL all green or all grey squashes there this year? And you saw the 1260 in real life...I'd be interested in your opinion (private if possible) as to how much of what looks like squashiness there really was. Thanks.......G
