I want to thank all those who worked so hard to make this weigh-off happen. The atmosphere was great and the fruit were huge. It was great to see the New York growers working together to make the weekend a success. The competition for the locals was a great idea, also. Thanks Andy, Randy & Deb, Bill B, Bill C, Joe, Tom, Craig, Polly & the MC (from from the chamber of commerce) and all who participated.

Thanks Tim.

I can finally breathe easy now. things went great. there are a lot of eager new growers around the Cooperstown area thanks to the Sundstroms and the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce.

Polly's husband Jim did great as the emcee for our show, and it helped that he knew a little about these critters, as he and Polly just finished their rookie year growing.

those who could stick around for the sceond day got quite a treat to witness our first pumpkin boat race there. as a participant, i must say, it was quite the experience! only got beat in the race by Joe Pukos' son. riding in a pumpkin I grew, no less! watch out guys, i learned a lot, and i'm planning on taking that top prize in the race next year. we got a lot of great pictures out of the experience, and captured it all on video. details coming later when things settle down a bit on how to get your hands on a copy of the full weekend.

We are definately in this for the long run, and i can see Cooperstown, NY being one of the top 5 weighoff sites within the next 5 years. Soon they will be known for pumpkins as much as they are for baseball.

we were all cheering for Tim, but the big one went a little lighter than expected, giving the closest challenge to the NY state record for squash in the last 11 years. Something to be proud of, for sure.

check out nysgpga.com for a good selection of pics. thanks to Tom (bohica) we have over 550 great pics to sort through. about 30 pics up now, giving a good idea of just how fun this thing really was.

Thanks to all of you folks for providing such a positive weigh off, both days were full of Pumpkins, energy, music, food, and fun!
For a rookie like me to be exposed to all of this and so many top notched growers like, Andy wolf, Bill Bobier, Joe Pukos, Randy and Deb Sundstrom, Bill Cartwright, Tim Baily, just to mention a few, was incredible in itself!
